Desktop Snapshots

Making Use of Desktop Snapshots

Snapshots allow you to 'back up' your virtual machine and restore it with ease.

For instance, if you're carrying out an upgrade that could potentially break your system, you can halt your virtual machine and take a snapshot beforehand.

If the upgrade goes well, you can delete the snapshot; if it doesn’t, you can revert the machine to its previous state.

Snapshots are available for all types of DaDesktop – that is to say, Fresh Start, Trainer, Participant, and Standalone machines can all utilise them.

Please be aware that when you restore a snapshot, the machine will be shut down so that it can be restarted.

How to Create Snapshots

Selecting Snapshots

This shows you how to take a snapshot. Give it a clear descriptive name so you’ll know exactly when it was created.

In the example below, two snapshots have been taken at different stages. You can restore or delete them as needed.

Automatic Desktop Snapshots

If you’d rather have snapshots taken at regular intervals so you don’t forget, using Automatic Desktop Snapshots is a great solution.

You can configure how many snapshots to retain and how often new ones are created right here.
