Bare Metal (PC Farm)

While DaDesktop predominantly utilises virtual desktops, specific tasks require access to actual hardware. With the bare metal solution, every participant is allocated their own physical desktop or server, all seamlessly managed via the DaDesktop platform.

One machine per person

Each individual is provided with a dedicated physical machine, eliminating the reliance on a virtual desktop environment.

Manage physical classrooms remotely

Integrate an existing classroom into DaDesktop, allowing you to oversee the machines without needing to be physically present.

When you need bare metal

How it works

Each physical device links to a DaDesktop node using a control cable known as ddnexus. When configuring a standalone or fresh-start desktop, you simply choose the "Metal PC" option, which then deploys the desktop directly to the physical hardware.

PC Farm

You are able to connect existing office desktops to function as bare metal nodes. Each physical desktop is referred to as a potato. The server responsible for managing them is termed a pumpkin (a DaDesktop node, or ddnode). The cable that connects each potato to the pumpkin via USB is described as a potato stalk.

Potato stalk cables are available on eBay and Alibaba.
