FAQ (DaDesktop for Training)
1. For Power Bi and VBA, is there Excel inside DaDesktop (DD)? (Because MS Excel functions are required)
- No, we do not provide MS Office within DD (Win10 & Win11 Pro). All we offer is a DD VM and a Training room
- The trainer(s) should prepare a free-trial account of MS Office for all delegates
- Otherwise they ought to use their own MS Office account
2. Can I copy something from my own desktop to my DD desktop?
- Indeed, we’ve introduced a straightforward way to upload files from your own machine to the DD Desktop. One minor limitation is that currently only a single file can be transferred at a time. However, it’s simple to create a zip or archive file with all the files you need, which can then be easily copied over to your DaDesktop machine.
- If using a cloud storage system, please don’t forget to log out from your cloud storage before cloning to all delegates
3. Why is the text in DD blurry, unclear, or even invisible?
- If you are using the Chrome browser, please navigate to: "chrome://settings/system" and switch off the hardware acceleration setting
4. Do Trainers have access to the NobleProg wiki?
- No, the Terms and Conditions at https://hr.nobleprog.com/trainer/register state that trainers are not permitted to access the wiki
- If you need to submit content for editing on the NobleProg wiki, please copy and paste it and send it to the trainer by email (a PDF is also acceptable)
5. Are there any domains we can whitelist when using proxy or content/network filtering to enable better working?
Yes! Please whitelist any domains that follow this pattern :-
- *.npg.io
-
https://dd4t.dadesktop.com
For any further questions, please contact DaDesktop Support.
6. How can I have multiple desktops when using DD, like Ansible Training?
- The trainer(s) can begin by setting up and choosing DD configurations (RAM, CPUs and Disk)
- Next, install Virt Manager or VirtualBox inside DD to configure multiple virtual machines inside DD, and establish networking between the VMs
- Once the setup is complete, you can clone it to delegates in seconds
- Please contact DaDesktop Support for assistance if required
7. What is the server capacity?
- It depends on the server hardware
- For example, 512 GB of RAM can be used as 512 GB × 3
- The maximum disk per server is 250 GB, each desktop gets 16 CPU threads, and RAM configurations can be customised.
8. Can I download the Video from the Training Recordings?
- Yes, recordings can now be downloaded via the three small dots to the right of the video player.
- The video includes audio recording if you use the training room audio.
9. Which browser should I used for DD?
- Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Opera all work perfectly
- Other browsers, such as Internet Explorer, are not fully supported
10. Why is there a huge delay using DaDesktop?
- First, check your network connection; DaDesktop relies on your local connection speed
- Next, check your server location; when the coordinator sets up the desktop, they will always choose a server close to the participants in the UK
- Turn off your VPN, or switch it to PAC mode. Also, please disable any security applications, particularly those that interfere with WebSocket connections, as they are essential for DaDesktop to run smoothly.
11. Websocket is blocked or not supported by network
Remote desktop access depends on WebSocket
- This could be due to your device blocking it. Check settings or configurations that may block WebSocket. For example, on some Chromebooks, within proxy settings, if the "Use the same proxy for all protocols" option is ticked, WebSocket won’t work (because it sets the "SOCKS host" with a proxy). Untick it and leave "SOCKS host" blank. This should resolve the issue.
- It could also be the network rather than your device. You’ll need to contact your network administrator or ask them to unblock WebSocket.
12. What support do you have for GPU, ie for 3d applications, etc ?
- Please refer to this GPU page for details about GPU support
13. Is there any potential issues or answers?
- Generally, using DaDesktop is similar to using any standard Windows or Linux machine, but a few minor issues can arise when using specific software applications in a training environment, particularly when cloning machines.
14. Do you support Mac compatible programs or Mac Emulation?
- No, we don’t provide support for Mac‑compatible programs or Mac emulation, mainly due to licensing issues that frequently arise.
