FAQ (DaDesktop for Training)
1. For Power BI and VBA, is Excel included within DaDesktop (DD)? (As MS Excel functions are required)
- No, we don't provide MS Office within DD (Win10 & Win11 Pro). All we provide is a DD VM and a training room.
- The trainer(s) should prepare a free trial account of MS Office for all delegates.
- Otherwise, they should use their own MS Office account.
2. Can I copy items from my own desktop to my DD desktop?
- Yes, we've introduced an easy-to-use method to upload files from your own machine to the DD Desktop. One small limitation is that currently only one file can be transferred at a time. However, it's easy to create a zip or archive file containing all the files you need, which can then be easily copied over to your DaDesktop machine.
- If using a cloud storage system, please don't forget to log out of your cloud storage before cloning to all delegates.
3. Why is the text in DD blurry, unclear, or even invisible?
- If you are using the Chrome browser, please go to : "chrome://settings/system" and disable the Hardware acceleration option.
4. Do trainers have access to the NobleProg wiki?
- No, the Terms and Conditions at https://hr.nobleprog.com/trainer/register state that a trainer cannot access the wiki.
- If you want to send something for editing on the NobleProg wiki, please copy & paste it and send it to the trainer via email (a PDF is also acceptable).
5. Are there any domains we can whitelist when using a proxy or content/network filtering to enable better working?
Yes! Please whitelist any domains that follow this pattern:
- *.npg.io
-
https://dd4t.dadesktop.com
For any further questions, please contact DaDesktop Support.
6. How can I have multiple desktops when using DD, such as for Ansible training?
- The trainer(s) can first set up and choose configurations of DD (RAM, CPUs, and Disk).
- Then, install Virt Manager or VirtualBox within DD to set up multiple virtual machines, and configure networking between the VMs.
- After completing the setup, you can clone to delegates in seconds.
- Please contact DaDesktop Support if you need help.
7. What is the server capacity?
- It depends on the server hardware.
- For example: 512GB RAM can be used as 512GB *3
- Maximum disk per server is 250GB, 16 CPU threads per desktop, and RAM configurations can be customised.
8. Can I download the video from the training recordings?
- Yes, recordings can now be downloaded via the three small dots to the right of the video player.
- Voice recording is included in the video if you use the training room audio.
9. Which browser should I use for DD?
- Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Opera work perfectly.
- Other browsers such as Internet Explorer are not fully supported.
10. Why is there a huge delay when using DaDesktop?
- Check your network connection; DaDesktop performance is based on your local connection speed.
- Check your server location; when the coordinator creates the desktop, they will always select a server near participants.
- Turn off your VPN, or set it to PAC mode. Also, please disable any security applications, especially those that affect WebSockets operation, which is required for smooth DaDesktop operation.
11. WebSocket is blocked or not supported by the network
Accessing the Remote Desktop depends on WebSocket
- This could be your device which is blocking it. Check settings/configurations that block WebSocket. For example, on some Chromebooks, within proxy settings, if the "Use the same proxy for all protocols" option is ticked, WebSocket won't work (because it sets the SOCKS host with a proxy). Untick it and leave the "SOCKS host" field blank. This should fix the issue.
- This could also be the network, not your device. You will need to contact your network administrator or ask them to unblock WebSocket.
12. What support do you have for GPU, i.e. for 3D applications, etc?
- Please see this GPU page for information regarding GPU support.
13. Are there any potential issues or answers?
- Generally, using DaDesktop is the same as using any normal Windows or Linux machine, but there are a few small issues that may arise when using specific software applications in a training environment, especially when cloning machines.
14. Do you support Mac-compatible programs or Mac emulation?
- No, we do not provide support for Mac-compatible programs or Mac emulation; this is mostly due to licensing issues that often arise.
