SSH Access

As a matter of convenience, many users ask for SSH access to DaDesktop machines so that course participants and trainers can connect to their Desktops from their personal laptop or desktop PC. It’s quite natural to prefer typing commands in a local terminal rather than working within a remote Desktop terminal.

Although it’s technically feasible, we don’t allow SSH access for this purpose, as doing so would unnecessarily expose the DaDesktop course machines to serious potential security risks.

A drag and drop file transfer feature has been introduced so that files can be easily moved from your own laptop or desktop into the DaDesktop machine. Some of the earlier requests for full SSH access stemmed from the fact that file transfer wasn’t previously available, but with this capability now in place, using DaDesktop has become even more straightforward.

It’s also worth mentioning that full QEMU Spice Desktop support is now offered on Windows and Linux OS templates. This makes it far simpler than before to copy and paste commands from your local machine straight into the DaDesktop machine, even when you’re working on a Mac or using non-English character sets.

For DDOP - DaDesktop on Premise servers, SSH access is allowed if it’s genuinely needed.
